Cheryl D. Toner
Registered Dietitian Nutritionist
Cheryl Toner, MS, RDN is a consultant in the Washington, DC area with expertise in nutrition, communications, food policy, strategy, partnership development, and program management. Organizations consult with Cheryl to facilitate strategic dialogue, improve understanding and translation of nutrition science for the public, and develop and implement programs that engage food, health professional, and nutrition science communities around issues of common concern. In that vein, she completed a 3-year fellowship with the Nutritional Science Research Group in the Division of Cancer Prevention (DCP) at the National Cancer Institute (NCI), in which she initiated a public/private initiative on “Enhancing Translation of Nutrition Science from Bench to Food Supply.”
Currently, Cheryl coordinates health research for The Cranberry Institute, is a member of the California Walnut Commission’s Health Professional Network, and provides nutrition coaching to individuals in her private practice. Cheryl is actively involved in the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, currently serving as Chair for the Sports, Cardiovascular, and Wellness Nutrition practice group. She earned a BS in nutrition at the University of Houston with a minor in Spanish, a MS in nutrition at Texas Woman’s University, and completed her dietetic internship at the Houston Veteran’s Affairs Medical Center in Houston, TX.
