Ingredients

  • 8 slices provolone cheese (8-ounces)

  • 1/4 cup chopped California walnuts, divided

  • 1/4 cup sliced red grapes, divided

  • 12 slices French baguette

  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter melted

  • 1 teaspoon garlic salt

  • 1/2 teaspoon fresh oregano (optional)

Preparation

  1. Preheat broiler on oven to 550℉. Spray a small oven safe skillet or 9-inch glass pie plate with nonstick spray.

  2. Lay the first 4 slices of provolone along the bottom of the skillet, covering the entire base.

  3. Scatter half of the chopped walnuts and grapes onto the cheese.

  4. Top with the remaining 4 slices of cheese then the remaining grapes and walnuts.

  5. Place the skillet in the oven and broil for 8 to 9 minutes or until hot and bubbly.

  6. While the Baked Provolone is broiling, lay baguette slices on a baking sheet and brush with butter and sprinkle with garlic salt.

  7. When the Baked Provolone has 2-3 minutes left in the oven, put the baking sheet with the baguette slices in the oven and broil bread slices for the remaining 2-3 minutes.

  8. Remove from oven and serve immediately; garnish with fresh oregano if desired.
