An easy-to-make Turkish dessert with the perfect blend of sweet and savory. Ground walnuts are mixed with wheat cereal and butter and later soaked in a syrup to create a soft and sweet treat.
Ingredients
3 cups toasted wheat squares cereal, crumbled
1-1/2 cups California walnuts
1/4 cup (1/2 stick) butter, melted
Whipped cream (optional)

1 cup sugar
1 cup water
1 tablespoon lemon juice
PREPARATION
Preheat oven to 350°F.
Place room temperature walnuts in food processor and pulse for a few seconds at a time until walnuts are fine and evenly ground.
Butter a 9-inch baking dish. Combine cereal, walnuts and melted butter in large bowl. Stir well. Pour mixture into prepared baking dish. Bake 20 to 25 minutes or until golden brown.
Pour syrup over hot browned mixture. Cover and allow to cool. Cut into squares. May be served with whipped cream on top.

Combine the sugar, water and lemon juice in a small pan over medium heat. Simmer uncovered for 10 minutes.
