Description

Build layered flavors in classic drinks using this in place of traditional simple syrup.

Ingredients

  • 2 ½ cups California walnuts, toasted
  • 4 ½ cups water, filtered and distilled
  • 3 ½ cups turbinado sugar

PREPARATION

  1. Heat the water and sugar until dissolved in a medium-sized pot. Remove from heat, add walnuts and blend in a blender until the consistency is smooth.
  2. Cook again over a double boiler for 1 hour. Let cool, strain with a sieve, and then pass through cheesecloth to remove smaller particulates from the liquid.
  3. Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator.
