Build layered flavors in classic drinks using this in place of traditional simple syrup.
Ingredients
2 ½ cups California walnuts, toasted
4 ½ cups water, filtered and distilled
3 ½ cups turbinado sugar
PREPARATION
Heat the water and sugar until dissolved in a medium-sized pot. Remove from heat, add walnuts and blend in a blender until the consistency is smooth.
Cook again over a double boiler for 1 hour. Let cool, strain with a sieve, and then pass through cheesecloth to remove smaller particulates from the liquid.
Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator.
