Apple Walnut Crisp
DESCRIPTION
Ingredients
Apple Filling
- 4 cups apples, peeled and chopped
- 2 tablespoons coconut sugar
- 1 tablespoon maple syrup
- 1 tablespoon gluten-free all purpose flour
- 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
- ¼ teaspoon nutmeg
- ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
TOPPING
- 2/3 cup walnuts, finely chopped
- 3/4 cup gluten free rolled oats
- ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 2 tablespoons maple syrup
Preparation
- Preheat oven to 350F. Grease an 8-inch baking pan with coconut oil. Set aside.
- Combine all filling ingredients in a large bowl. Stir until apples are completely and evenly coated and sugar has dissolved.
- Pour apple filling into prepared baking pan and spread into an even layer.
- Combine all topping ingredients in a medium bowl and mix until crumbles form.
- Spoon the filling mixture on top of the apple mixture. Make sure the mixture is evenly dispersed.
- Bake 45 minute or until the top is a deep golden brown and juices begins to thicken.
- Serve warm over your favorite ice cream, yogurt or a bowl on its own.
