Ingredients
- 1 1/2 cups flour
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 6 teaspoons everything bagel seasoning, divided
- 1/2 teaspoon sea salt or fine smoked sea salt
- 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/4 cup butter, softened
- 1/2 cup + 2 tablespoons buttermilk, divided
- 3/4 cup finely chopped California walnuts, divided
Preparation
- Preheat oven to 375°F. Stir together flour, sugar, 4 teaspoons bagel seasoning, salt and baking soda. Add butter and 1/2 cup walnuts and mix with a fork. Add 1/2 cup buttermilk and stir until well mixed.
- Transfer to a lightly floured board and knead several times to form a smooth ball. Divide into 4 equal pieces. Roll 2 pieces as thinly as possible on a lightly floured board. Place on parchment-lined baking sheets and brush with 1 tablespoon buttermilk. Sprinkle each flatbread with 2 tablespoons of walnuts and 1/2 teaspoon bagel seasoning and press lightly into the dough with your fingertips.
- Bake for 15 to 18 minutes or until a light golden brown. Repeat with remaining dough, buttermilk, walnuts and bagel seasoning. Let cool completely, then break each in half, then break each half into 2-inch pieces
