Walnut Parmesan Breadsticks
DESCRIPTION
Starting with prepared pizza dough makes these tasty, soft breadsticks super fast to prepare.
Ingredients
- 14 ounce ball whole-wheat pizza dough
- 1/2 cup California walnuts, finely chopped
- 6 tablespoons Parmesan cheese, grated
- 1 tablespoon fresh rosemary, chopped
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- Olive oil cooking spray
- Freshly ground sea salt and pepper to taste
Preparation
- Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Press pizza dough into a flat disc on a lightly floured board. Sprinkle with walnuts, 4 tablespoons cheese, rosemary and garlic.
- Fold in half and knead briefly to mix ingredients into dough. (If dough becomes too stiff, set it aside for a few minutes.)
- Divide into eight equal pieces and roll into 1/2-inch thick strips. Fold in half and twist several times.
- Place on a parchment-lined baking sheet and coat with cooking spray.
- Sprinkle with remaining cheese and let stand in a warm spot for 30 minutes.
- Preheat oven to 400ºF.
- Coat with cooking spray once more and bake for 10 minutes or until golden brown.
