Herbed Walnuts
DESCRIPTION
While we are used to rosemary paired with roasted chicken or glazed ham, the mix of flavors in this Herbed Walnuts recipe will give you a similar taste without the hassle in the kitchen. Vary the recipe by using fresh oregano, sage or thyme in place of the fresh rosemary. Package the walnuts in a mason jar tied with a gold ribbon.
Ingredients
- 1 teaspoon walnut oil
- 2 teaspoons rosemary, fresh, chopped
- Pinch cayenne pepper
- Salt, if desired
- 2/3 cup California walnuts, chopped
Preparation
- Preheat the oven to 350°F.
- To prepare the herbed walnuts, spread the oil in a small baking pan and place the pan in the oven for 3-4 minutes.
- Meanwhile, in a small cup or bowl, stir together the rosemary, cayenne and a pinch of salt, if desired; set aside.
- Add the walnuts to the oil and stir and toss to coat them. Sprinkle with the rosemary mixture then stir twice, until the nuts are lightly toasted.
