Ingredients

For the Fruit:

  • 4 Bartlett pears, medium/large ripe, peeled and large dice (4–5 cups)
  • 1 C California figs, chopped & dried
  • 1/4 C Brown sugar, packed light or dark
  • 3 Tbsp Flour, all-purpose
  • 1 tsp Vanilla extract, pure
  • 1 tsp Cinnamon, ground
  • 1 tsp Nutmeg, ground
  • 1/4 tsp Kosher salt

For the Topping:

  • 1/2 C Flour, all-purpose
  • 1/2 C Brown sugar, packed light or dark
  • 1 tsp Cinnamon, ground
  • 1/2 C Real California butter, unsalted, cold & cubed
  • 1 C California walnuts, chopped
  • 1/2 C Whole rolled oats, old-fashioned

For serving: Real California Vanilla Ice Cream

Preparation

  1. Heat oven to 400°F.
  2. Mix all of the filling ingredients together in a large bowl, then spread into the skillet.
  3. Make the topping: Whisk the flour, brown sugar, and cinnamon together in a medium bowl. Cut in the butter using a pastry cutter or fork until the mixture becomes super crumbly. Stir in the walnuts and oats. Sprinkle over filling.
  4. Bake for 40-45 minutes or until the topping is golden brown and the fruit juices are bubbling around the edges. Remove from the oven, place on a wire rack, and allow to cool for at least 5 minutes before serving. Serve warm with vanilla ice cream.
