Date Walnut Butter
DESCRIPTION
Ingredients
- 12 ounces California walnuts
- 8 ounces dried whole dates
- 1-2 teaspoons walnut oil (optional)
Preparation
- Pit the dates and remove the stems. In a blender or food processor, blend until a thick paste forms. Set aside in a bowl.
- Ina blender or food processor, grind the walnuts for 3-4 minutes until the mixture becomes sticky or paste-like.
- Add the date paste and blend until the butter forms.
- If the mixture is still dry, add 1-2 teaspoons of walnut oil and blend until smooth.
- Spoon the butter into a container with a lid, seal, and store in the refrigerator until ready to use.
- Option: This version tastes just as good with dried figs, cranberries, blueberries or prunes as it does with dates.
