Grape and Walnut Baked Provolone
DESCRIPTION
Ingredients
- 8 slices provolone cheese (8-ounces)
- 1/4 cup chopped California walnuts, divided
- 1/4 cup sliced red grapes, divided
- 12 slices French baguette
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter melted
- 1 teaspoon garlic salt
- 1/2 teaspoon fresh oregano (optional)
Preparation
- Preheat broiler on oven to 550℉. Spray a small oven safe skillet or 9-inch glass pie plate with nonstick spray.
- Lay the first 4 slices of provolone along the bottom of the skillet, covering the entire base.
- Scatter half of the chopped walnuts and grapes onto the cheese.
- Top with the remaining 4 slices of cheese then the remaining grapes and walnuts.
- Place the skillet in the oven and broil for 8 to 9 minutes or until hot and bubbly.
- While the Baked Provolone is broiling, lay baguette slices on a baking sheet and brush with butter and sprinkle with garlic salt.
- When the Baked Provolone has 2-3 minutes left in the oven, put the baking sheet with the baguette slices in the oven and broil bread slices for the remaining 2-3 minutes.
- Remove from oven and serve immediately; garnish with fresh oregano if desired.
