Strawberry Milk and Walnut Smoothie

Ingredients
WALNUT BUTTER (makes ½ cup)
- 1 cup California walnuts, toasted
- 1/8 teaspoon salt
- 2 teaspoons maple syrup
- 3 teaspoons olive oil
STRAWBERRY MILK AND WALNUT SMOOTHIE
- 1 cup frozen strawberries, sliced
- 1/2 cup frozen banana, sliced
- 1 tablespoon plus one teaspoon walnut butter (see recipe above)
- 1-1/4 cup whole milk
Preparation
WALNUT BUTTER
- Combine all the ingredients in a food processor and process until smooth and creamy (about 5 minutes).
- Add 1/2 teaspoon of olive oil to the mixture until it reaches the consistency of peanut butter.
- Note: This recipe makes 1/2 cup of walnut butter. Use the extra walnut butter on toast, in oatmeal, and anywhere you’d typically use nut butter.
STRAWBERRY MILK AND WALNUT SMOOTHIE
- Combine all the ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth.
- Divide among glasses and drink immediately.
