Whisk all the ingredients together in a wide, shallow bowl or a pie pan. Add 3/4 pound lean steak or boneless chicken breasts. Marinate for a minimum of 20 minutes before grilling.
If you are cooking this on the stovetop, rather than on a grill, you can cut the meat into thin strips before marinating. This will maximize the tart flavor and make for very quick cooking time (only about 4 minutes in a hot pan over medium-high heat!)
Prior to service, toast walnuts in the oven for 8 to 10 minutes at 350°F. Sprinkle the toasted walnuts on top of the marinated chicken or steak.
Warm, bubbly stone fruit is topped with a golden walnut-oat crumble and finished with a velvety homemade walnut cream for the perfect balance of cozy and refreshing.
