Industry Resources

The Board and Commission continue to work on your behalf. The CWB provides funding and strategic direction on walnut production and post-harvest research designed to help support the industry by improving crop health, yields, and food safety. The California walnut industry includes 4,000 growers and approximately 72 handlers. If you are interested in finding or contacting a supplier, please refer to this list.

Production Research Annual Progress Reports

Here you will find short 1- to 2-page progress reports that capture the background, methods, and key findings of production research projects in a concise, easy-to-read format. These reports, organized by the four production research areas of Orchard Management, Plant Pathology & Nematology, Entomology, and Variety & Rootstock Breeding, are available for viewing and downloading. Food Safety

California walnuts are handled with great care and attention to bring customers the best quality product.

Growers

More than 99% of the walnuts in the U.S. are grown in the fertile soils of California’s Central Valley. And this is made possible by the efforts of the 4,000 family farms that have been growing walnuts of the highest quality for over a century.

Handlers

California walnuts supply approximately half of the world’s walnut trade. This can be attributed to not only the growing popularity of walnuts, but also the quality consciousness of the walnut handlers that has helped California walnuts become more sought after by consumers.
